What does an appliance warranty card promise?
A warranty is a promise that if the product fails because of a manufacturing defect within the warranty period, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost to you. It is not a promise that anything that goes wrong will be fixed free. Most disagreements over warranties come down to the difference between a defect and damage or wear.
At Green Life, every product has a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects, counted from the date on your invoice.
Which details on the warranty card matter?
- Product and model: it should match the appliance in your hand.
- Date of purchase: the warranty runs from this date, not from when the product was made.
- Seller name or stamp: shows who sold it and who to contact first.
- Warranty period: for example 1 year.
- What is covered: manufacturing defects, and any parts listed separately, such as the glass top on some cooktops.
What counts as a manufacturing defect?
A fault that exists because of how the product was made, showing up under normal home use. Examples: a kettle that stops heating, a motor that will not start, a switch that fails, or a pressure regulator that does not hold pressure on a new cooker.
Damage from a fall, a wrong voltage, water in a motor base or a repair attempt is not a manufacturing defect, even if it happens in the first week.
What does an appliance warranty usually not cover?
Our Warranty and Repairs page lists what the Green Life warranty does not cover:
- Household products used for commercial purposes, for example in a restaurant, canteen or catering business.
- Misuse, overuse, or use that does not follow the instructions.
- Accidental or physical damage.
- Repairs or changes made by anyone other than Green Life or its authorised dealers.
- Normal wear, such as a non-stick coating wearing down after long, heavy use.
Why does the invoice matter as much as the card?
The invoice proves when and where you bought the product. For claims made directly to Green Life, you need the official Green Life e-invoice from greenlifesl.lk, issued in the name and email address used for the purchase, whether you bought online or at our showroom. If the product was a gift, ask for the invoice number to be written on or attached to it.
How do you make a warranty claim at Green Life?
- Contact us on 0776882898 or at support@greenlifesl.lk with your invoice number, the product and the fault. A photo helps.
- Within 7 days of purchase, a faulty or wrong item is exchanged, and we collect it and deliver the replacement free of charge.
- After 7 days, send the product to our service centre for a warranty repair. You cover the cost of sending it; we can arrange a courier pickup if that is easier.
- We inspect it. A manufacturing defect is repaired or replaced free and delivered back to you free. If it is not covered, we tell you the cost first and only repair it once you approve.
- Typical repair time is 3 to 14 working days from when the product reaches our service centre.
What if you bought from a dealer?
Contact the dealer you bought from, with your invoice and warranty card. The dealer holds your sale record and passes the case to us when needed; our service centre repairs the product and returns it to the dealer, who hands it back to you. Full details are on our Returns and Exchanges page.
Why buy from an authorised seller?
A warranty card is only as good as the service behind it. Green Life is the authorised GreenChef agent for Sri Lanka and the authorised Brewine dealer for Sri Lanka, and our service centre repairs Green Life, GreenChef and Brewine appliances bought from us or from our authorised dealers.
How should you keep your warranty papers?
- Take a photo of the warranty card and the invoice on the day you buy, and keep the e-invoice email.
- Keep the box and packaging for the first 7 days; a wrong item must come back unused in its original packaging.
- Write the purchase date somewhere you will see it, such as inside a cupboard door.
- Read the care section of the manual; following it keeps your warranty valid.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does the warranty start?
From the date on your invoice, not the date the product was made.
Are sale items covered?
Yes. Discounted items cannot be exchanged for a change of mind, but the warranty still covers manufacturing defects.
Is a worn non-stick coating covered?
No. A coating wearing down after long, heavy use is normal wear.
Can I get a cash refund instead?
We do not give cash refunds for a change of mind. A fault confirmed within 7 days is put right with an exchange or store credit.
How long does a repair take?
Typically 3 to 14 working days from when the product reaches our service centre.
