Pressure cooker prices in Sri Lanka depend on three things: the size, the line it belongs to and the metal it is made from. This guide sets out what every GreenChef pressure cooker costs at Green Life today, and which size suits which kitchen, so you pay for the capacity you will actually use.

Quick answer

  • GreenChef pressure cookers cost Rs 5,599 (Namo 3L) to Rs 10,399 (Evok 12L) at Green Life.
  • For a family of four or five, the Namo 5L at Rs 7,099 is the everyday size.
  • The Evok 7.5L at Rs 6,299 gives the most litres for the money.
  • Stainless steel (Classic, 2L to 5L, Rs 5,999 to Rs 9,799) costs more but works on induction.
  • Every model has a 1-year warranty and free island-wide delivery.

How much does a pressure cooker cost in Sri Lanka?

Which size do you need?

Buy for the biggest meal you cook every week, not the biggest meal you cook every year. A cooker that is too large wastes gas and takes longer to come up to pressure for a small pot of dhal.

  • 3 litres: couples and small families, quick rice, dhal and small curries. The Namo 3L is the compact choice.
  • 5 litres: everyday rice, dhal and curry for a family of four or five. This is the Namo 5L.
  • 7.5 litres: family-size batches of rice, curry and meat, or cooking for two days at once. This is the Evok 7.5L.
  • 10 to 12 litres: big family meals, dansal-size rice and gatherings. These are the Evok 10L and 12L.

Why is a bigger cooker sometimes cheaper?

Price follows the line as well as the size. The Namo cookers are built in high grade virgin aluminium and add a fusible safety valve on the 5L, on top of the precision weight valve, the gasket release system and the metallic safety plug. The Evok line is made for big batches, with an improved pressure regulator, an anti-implosion lid and an extra handle for lifting a full cooker. That is why the Evok 7.5L costs less than the Namo 5L even though it holds more.

So if you need a large cooker, the Evok gives you the most litres for your money. If you want a mid-size cooker for daily use, the Namo 5L is the one built for that job.

Aluminium or stainless steel: is the extra cost worth it?

A stainless steel cooker costs more at every size. In return it does not react with sour curries such as fish ambul thiyal, and the GreenChef Classic also works on induction cooktops, which aluminium cookers do not. If you cook on gas and keep the cooker for everyday rice and dhal, aluminium does the job for less. Our guide hard anodised vs stainless steel pressure cookers goes deeper.

What should you check before you pay?

  • A warranty card and an invoice from an authorised seller. Green Life is the authorised GreenChef agent for Sri Lanka.
  • The safety parts named on the box: weight valve, safety plug and gasket.
  • That the cooker fits your stove: large cookers need a stable burner and pan support.
  • The total price with delivery. Every GreenChef cooker at Green Life is over Rs 5,000, so delivery is free.

Our recommendation

For most Sri Lankan homes, the Namo 5L at Rs 7,099 is the right everyday cooker. Choose the Namo 3L at Rs 5,599 for one or two people, and the Evok 7.5L at Rs 6,299 when you regularly cook for a crowd or for two days at a time. Pick stainless steel only if you cook on induction or want a cooker that never reacts with sour curries.
